It is a common view amongst proffessional photographers that, regardless of an individual's experience, one of the best tools for personal development is that of providing critiques. This group has its emphasis on this way of thinking, and provides opportunities for this in the group's pool, and also the critiques threads.
It follows from this that those new to this activity need not feel intimidated providing critique, as the primary purpose of doing so is for your own development. Of course, should the benefactor pick up something in the process, all the better, but, if not, so be it. - at least they will know what impact their image has on at least some people.
When reading critiques on your own images it is essential that you do not take any negative comments on your image as personal, the key here is to seperate what you want to discard and what you want to keep. Please also bear in mind that someone has took the time and effort to critique your image - a valuable commodity going by the amount of people that "dump and run" in various groups. If you are the type of person that is looking for only complements, and not genuine feedback (warts and all ) this may not be for you.
So, regardless of experience, if you are prepared to spend a liitle of your time giving feedback, and would like genuine feedback on your own work, you're welcome to join us
