3. "Baboon in my face!"

Taken at the Cape of Good Hope at the southwestern tip of Africa. I thought this was a good example of compression and tension as the baboon crouches to jump off the car and I also felt a lot of tension as it landed just inches away from me!!

LOVE the VNB pic! My second fave bridge while growing up, and while dating a woman in Bay Ridge. This of course holds pride of place....

I've got to risk putting Liz in a tough spot two weeks in a row. I've enjoyed this series and I'm a sucker for alternatives to the straightforward interpretation of a theme.

I am voting for #6. I am sure the children trying to get in front of the camera get the point of tension&compression, and this picture captures it for me!

#2 for me - a really great shot of tension and compression at work.
This was a frustrating one for me coz I've got quite a number of photos of tensioned corrugated beam safety fences with very compressed cars - but I can't post them on Flickr ! :o(

Good question WisDoc - I thought it meant "me too" but I've seen it used recently in places where this doesn't seem right, so I'm confused.....but then, that's not unusual !

BUMP is a good word and is used when you want a discussion thread to be at the top and people see the thread as they check the group... e.g. I have seen sometimes the "what field of science are you in?" has been "bumped" which is a good move to let people newcomers that they can introduce themselves... or this thread as Greg did which means don't forget to vote! :))

Actually, I went through this same process of questioning what it meant and trying to figure it out from its usage when Liz used it on prior threads (always the scientist!). I finally gave up and went to the Urban Dictionary online and looked it up. I believe it actually stands for "Bring Up My Post". It is very effective and people had stopped voting...

I think every one who is going to vote has voted - as we are on our third bump....once again feeling odd about this - but here ya go - totals:
14 = 3
17=2
15=2
1 = 6
6=2
2=1
7=1
9=3
Which means that I'm going to pick a new theme - Thanks all! these shots were great!
