About Say NO To Condos And Development On FlickrIt seems the world over Condos and overdevelopment are pushing more people out of decent housing and neighborhoods. I really first thought it was New York City suffering the worst of the developers wrecking ball but as I've learned it's a worldwide phenomenon. Only this morning, listening to NPR, I learned of Katrina victims who cannot find decent affordable housing in Mississippi because of the rapid rise of Condos and high priced luxury housing going up. Imagine $850 per month for some seedy housing complex in a rough neighborhood where a sign reads "No loitering, alcohol or loud music"? Yipes! There's way too much development out there and we need to speak up about it. Perhaps a petition needs to be drawn up to submit to our congressmen. If laws can be passed in local municipalities to drive out Wal-Mart because of its anti-competitive practices why not the same for avaricious developers. |
