About Save Knowland Park

Knowland Park is a park in Oakland, CA, adjacent to the Oakland Zoo. The City and the Zoo would like create an extension of the zoo by developing on 56 acres of grassland and oak woodland in the park. Ironically, this extension would highlight Californian wildlife, including many species that used to live in the area but are now locally extinct, like grizzly bears, bison, and wolves. The purpose of this group is to document some of the native plants and animals current residing in Knowland Park that would become locally extinct if these plans proceed.
