About ANG SAPATOS NI JUAN DELA CRUZ

For a country that spent a large part of its history with its people walking barefoot, SHOES have etched its place in the Philippines’ very soul. Of the few records that the country own in the Guinness book, two of them are about shoes; one for Imelda Marcos’ infamous collection, and another for having made the biggest pair of shoes in the world.

Many Filipino songs, poems, stories, folk beliefs and games have been inspired by shoes as well.

This collection of photographs and visual representation of shoes in the Philippines serves as a tribute to this oft neglected part of our culture.
