On April 25, 2009, the battleground will host the annual San Jacinto Festival and Battle Reenactment. The festival will be from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and the Reenactment will be at 3 p.m.
We will select the best of the photos posted here to feature on the San Jacinto Museum Facebook page launching this summer!
For the Texians, led by General Sam Houston, victory at the Battle of San Jacinto created a new nation: The Republic of Texas. And it would eventually gain the United States nine territories that reached to the Pacific Ocean.
San Jacinto Monument is the world’s tallest war memorial, standing 15 feet taller than the Washington monument. The San Jacinto Museum of History is housed in the base of the monument. The 1,200-acre San Jacinto Battleground State Historic Site also includes the Battleship Texas, the nation's first battleship memorial museum.
The museum is located in La Porte, Texas (Get Directions) and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. every day.
