Seeking to better the education of our nation’s future leaders, in April 2002, City National Bank launched a multi-faceted initiative to restock school libraries through the nonprofit, Reading is The way up®.

Since its inception, RWU's focus has expanded from California to include Nevada and New York City, resulting in the following accomplishments to date:

-- Donated more than 40,000 books to schools in California, Nevada, and New York City.

-- Awarded almost 400 teacher grants for literacy projects and books.

-- Raised over $275,000 in charitable gifts from City National Bank colleagues and clients for Reading is The way up®.

-- Helped open 20 new elementary school libraries through a partnership with The Wonder of Reading in Los Angeles.
