About 'Rust in peace' UK

There is a surprising amount of iron and other metalwork to be found in British churchyards, cemeteries and burial grounds. This group is a celebration of that.

Primarily it is for metal tombstones, memorials and grave markers of any kind but the group is liberal and the scope can include rusty railings, the cemetery gates, mausoleum doors... anything of photographic or historical interest.

Of especial interest is the Victorian taste for cast iron tombstones and grave markers. Many of these were locally manufactured and may reflect regional or purely local tastes.

Iron, steel, brass, bronze, copper, any metal. Rusty or verdigrised preferred but polished and painted is accepted.
