About Railroad Photography Gallery International

The purpose of this group is to showcase the VERY BEST railroad photograhy on Flickr.
Because we want only the best in this group, all photo submissions are actively moderated, and only those that are of high quality or of unique creativity will be picked. Creativity, and good photographic skills are the key to having your photo selected. Sharp focus, proper exposure, and good compositional skills are a must. Of course allowances will be made for artistic effect, like intentionally blurred shots to show train motion. Also, unique equipment and/or unique locations will be taken into consideration.
Because of the high volume of submissions to the group, we cannot send an e-mail to those who photos have not been selected explaining why. However, do not feel discouraged if your photo is not picked, but resolve to try again. This group is an excellent place to learn the different aspects of railroad photography, and you can learn to improve your own photography skills by just studying what has already been submitted here.
Any and all railroad subjects will be allowed, as long as there is some connection to railroading. Trains, stations, track, signs, signals and so forth. And all type of shots will be allowed: wedge, roster, scenic, detail, artistic, HDR, whatever you can think of. And all type of railroads: narrow gauge, standard gauge, broad gauge, trams, subways, commuter lines, and even monorails.
To keep the group small, and the photos of the highest quality, submissions will be limited to one per member per day.
A good rule of thumb would be to look over all the photos in your stream and choose what you think would be the top 5% or so, and submit those.
If you have several shots taken at the same day from the same location of very similar trains, try to pick the best one from your shoot for submission.
This is a public group, and anyone is welcome to join after reading and agreeing to the rules.
