About Saints, Blessed, Martyrs and Venerated of Royal and Noble Origin
Make a contribution to our group and help complete the picture (Read my profile to know more)
Beside each name I shall indicate if the saint was found and added to our group in bold letters. If you find other representations of a saint, etc. after it was already added to the group archives, you are welcome to post more - by all means do so!
Here is the list (below) I am looking for in particular (two here were included as they are 'probable' relatives but no records to date can prove it and one can only rely on the historical facts of what is known of their origin. As their link to royal and noble bloodlines is very similar to individuals in my family or their lineage belongs to a limited family of a particular name or bloodline, they were included here as they are probably potential kin of mine as well.).
Pictures of the The Holy Family; Christ/Jesus; the Virgin Mary; St Joseph (Husband of the Virgin Mary and Holy Mother of God) ARE ALLOWED here as BOTH the Blessed Virgin Mary AND St Joseph are descendants of the Kings of Judea and Jerusalem and hence are of the 'earthly nobility and royalty' from BOTH sides of Jesus' parents (even his designated 'adoptive father on earth,' St Joseph) - AND - as they are ALSO of the supreme heavenly and earthly royalty - the highest known to mankind - and, so YES their images ARE welcomed here.
However, do NOT post images of endless church processions and ceremonies of feasts as it would make this much too large a collection.
ONLY images of stained glass, paintings, statues, monuments, sculptures, icons, holy cards, shrines and churches to them and similar images are allowed here.
You CAN add saints which belong to this 'classification' as the name for our group implies. CHECK THE RULES PLEASE.

Olaf Haraldsson had the given the name Óláfr [in Old Norse[. (Etymology: Anu – 'forefather'; Leifr – 'heir'.) Olav is the modern equivalent in Norwegian, formerly often spelt Olaf. His name in Icelandic is Ólafur, in Faroese Ólavur, in Danish Oluf, in Swedish Olof. Olave was the traditional spelling in England, preserved in the name of medieval churches dedicated to him. Other names, such as Oláfr hinn helgi, Olavus rex, and Olaf are used interchangeably (see the Heimskringla of Snorri Sturluson). He is sometimes referred to as Rex Perpetuus Norvegiae, eternal King of Norway, a designation which goes back to the thirteenth century. The term Ola Nordmann as epithet of the archetypal Norwegian may originate in this tradition, as the name Olav for centuries was the most common male name in Norway.

It is important to try to identify the image you post - who is the saint, etc. which you captured in your photography? Entering a bit of information as well is also most appreciated to record the history which should belong with each saint, etc. So much is lost to the oblivion of the dust of history sometimes... many windows, statues, paintings, etc. in churches around the world can no longer be identified and to be able to tag the history to the representations of saints in stained glass like this is a heritage and legacy which is priceless. Churches should begin to install plaques under windows with a short history where such works have no name inscribed on them - especially, as in a few decades far more will lose their names in the minds of the living and perhaps in time so many more will be forgotten as the 'verbal heritage' which gets transferred by those who are 'in the know' is passed down less and less in time will cause many such works to no longer be properly identified. These images are treasures of history which should be preserved and the history written to revive their contributions to humanity in many respects. One cannot 'guess' at this sort of thing. . . I have purchased a book on 5,000 saints and trust me, since then, I have found more for whom rare indeed is any written work about them and their name is basically all but forgotten. . . Churches are a goldmine of such historical personnages and it is great to see people participate to contribute to complete the picture here when we can. Thank you!
