About Rodinal Special / R09 Spezial

Rodinal Special is a fine grain variant of the high acutance developer known as AGFA Rodinal. It's a good choice of developer for those who shoot with higher speed films in the smaller formats, since the look of regular Rodinal might appear somewhat grainy under these conditions. It also renders a smoother tonality when working with slow and medium speed films.

Normally supplied in 125 ml bottles, Rodinal Special is also available for high volume requirements in one litre containers which are called Studional. Both of these were produced in the AgfaPhoto Leverkusen plant. The new versions are called R09 Spezial and R09 Studio, for the 125 ml and 1000 ml versions, respectively and are produced by Agfa-Gevaert N.V. in Mortsel, Belgium.
