About Rococo

A celebration of visual overload & taking things just a bit too far. A feast of whimsical trills, frills & curlicues; from extravagant white & gold stucco to airy, frothy canvases. And we love Bavarian churches.

The Rococo era began in France under Louis XV in the early 1700s and ran amok all over Europe up until the arrival of boring old neoclassicism towards the end of the 18th century.

Please post your pictures of Rococo architecture & interiors, painting, furniture and sculpture including stuff by Watteau, Boucher, the Asam brothers, Zimmermann, Chippendale, Fragonard, Pineau, Clodion, Gainsborough et al.

If you can ID the artist and geotag the location all the better.
