Well, I had suggested a meet up on the 11th, but got no responses. Add to that the fact that I just got back in town and I've been without internet access for over 2 weeks, so I haven't been able to check or even bump my post.
I say Lilac Festival and then some hanging out at the Distillery afterwards. If not this weekend, then next weekend.

Okay, the Lilac Fest didn't seem to work out this year and I'm out of town this week, through Thursday.
How about the subway next weekend? May 24th, 1pm at the Dinosaur and then walk over to the subway. If you are there, great. If not then it'll be June before you get to see me again.
Bring comfortable shoes that you won't mind getting dirty, a flashlight and your tripod. Pretty much everything else is optional.

This sounds like some prime Urban Exploring! Anyone see the movie at the High Falls Film Fest? Directly after I was ready to don my headlamp, but of course didn't bring it with me. I don't have a fancy camera - just a SONY Cybershot. Am I worthy, lol?

The Subway is very easy to get in to. I've never heard of anyone getting in trouble for going down there either. I always go in at the entrance near/under Dinosaur BBQ.

Technically, it's considered illegal. Hence the fences. I haven't heard of anyone getting arrested from going down there though. Lots of homeless folk use the subways.
GB glass - I started out with just a 2 MP camera. No SLR or D-SLR required to enjoy!
Sounds like a good day to do it. If we get enough responses, I'll edit my original post.

I don't care where we go.
FYI: I've been down in the subway before. Long ago, and a few years back. We rode our mountain bikes all the way through toward frontier field. There is a lot to explore. Just be advised that, yes, people sleep there. During the day I'm sure its cool and there wont be issues. A large group of "Armed" photographers stands a much better chance than a few homeless people. I for one am bringing a head mounted LED light and a backup flashlight. The 2 or 3 cell 3watt Maglight LED flashlights rock and weight practically nothing. (The double AA one's) They're about 20 bucks. I assume we're walking all the way through. :)

I'd be up for food! After all it is around lunch time. Considering I'll be parking there, I should at least eat something.
There is a way in right next to the War Memorial.
Thats where this was taken. It should be easy enough to hop down.
You can see the pipe you have to climb over, and the railing to duck under to the right.

Well, I certainly didn't expect this kind of response! Sorry for those who can't make it. I'll probably do another trip later this summer.
Okay, if we're doing lunch, let's try to make it a little earlier. Perhaps noon, do lunch and then head down @ 1.
To answer a few questions:
Yes, the subway is city property and you will be trespassing.
You have to climb over a guard rail to get in on the South Ave. side.
Please do not bring any weapons! Once again, you will be on city property. I have been down there alone and never had any problems. The last trip was only 3 people.
No, there are no zombies down there.
No, you do not need a special camera. Point & shoot, pinhole Instamatic, Polaroid. All are welcome. Even the Holga is accepted, but understand that you will be ridiculed.

i'm 99% sure that i'm actually going to make it to this one. i'm shooting a brighton little league game in the morning and was worried that i wouldn't be done in time but it looks like i might.
what time is lunch? i'm not sure if i can be there at noon. 12:30/1:00 most probably.

Finally got my photos up. It won't take nearly as long next time. I've been working on tagging/uploading all my photos from 2002 onwards (oldest->newest) and these came pretty late in the process...
