Rocamolaco es un sitio especial. No es la capital del mundo ni de su cantón, pero antes, cuando su mundo era más pequeño, tenía gran importancia. Está un poco abandonado, pero sus habitantes conservan el espíritu. No son conservadores, pero saben que no encuentran en el centro del mundo, y por ello no les hace falta toda modernidad. Estiman que su pueblo tenga inglesias lindas (aunque no sean ni San Pablo del Vaticano ni catedral de Colonia ni la Basílica del Voto Nacional en Quito), tiendas pintorescas (aunque prescindan de Harrod's y ni siquiera tengan un Mall avanzado), parques y plazas cómodas y rincones olvidados en el tiempo. El pueblo tiene cierto aire latino, pero influencias y artefactos de todo el mundo están recibidos con la misma curiosidad, con la que antes se recibió a Melquíades y sus gitanos. No hay necesidad de vestirse de gala o de ultima moda, pero tampoco te miran mal si lo haces.

Welcome to Rocamolaco!

Rocamolaco is a special place. It isn't the capital of the world, nor of its county, but a time ago when its world was smaller it was of great importance. It's a little bit abandoned, but its habitants conserve the spirit. They aren't conservative, but they know that the centre of the world is somewhere else, and therefore they don't need complete modernity. They like that their village has nice churches (although they are neither Saint Paul in Vatican City, nor the Cathedral of Cologne or Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito), pintoresque shops (not being Harrods, not even modern Malls), cosy parcs and places as well as corners where time didn't pass. Rocamolaco has a certain latin american touch, but influences and artefacts from all over the world are received with the same curiosity that once discovered Melquíades and his gypsies. There is no necessity to dress gala robes or ultimate fashion, but nobody looks down on you if you do so.

Willkommen in Rocamolaco!

Rocamolaco ist ein besonderer Ort. Es ist nicht die Hauptstadt der Welt, nichtmal seines Landkreises. Aber früher, als seine Welt noch kleiner war, war es sehr bedeutend. Es ist heute ein bisschen ab vom Schuss, aber seine Bewohner bewahren das Ambiente. Sie sind nicht altmodisch, aber sie wissen, dass sie nicht im Zentrum der Welt leben, und deshalb müssen sie nicht alle Modernitäten mitmachen. Sie schätzen, dass ihr Dorf schöne Kirchen hat (wenn sie auch nicht der Petersdom, nicht der Kölner Dom oder die Basilica del Voto Nacional in Quito sein mögen), reizende und interessante Läden (wenn es auch kein Harrods und noch nichtmal ein modernes Einkaufszentrum geben mag), gemütliche Parks und Plätze, und von der Zeit vergessene Ecken. Rocamolaco hat gewisses lateinamerikanisches Flair, aber Einflüsse und Gegenstände ausder ganzen Welt werden mit derselben Neugier empfangen wie seinerzeit Melquiades und sein fahrendes Volk. Es ist nicht nötig, sich in Galaroben oder der neuesten Mode nach zu kleiden, obwohl niemand auf diejenigen herabsieht, die das tun.
