About RISE Sculpture, Broadway, Belfast

RISE is the new landmark for Belfast, built at Broadway Roundabout. It is the biggest public art sculpture in Belfast. The sculpture's two globes, cast in silver and white steel, are lit to symbolise the rising of the sun and new hope for Belfast's future. At 37.5m high and 30m wide, RISE is three metres taller than the Albert Clock and six times the weight of a double-decker bus! RISE was designed by Wolfgang Buttress and will cost £486,000. It was manufactured and constructed by M Hasson and Sons Ltd in Rasharkin.

Nicknames for RISE include "Westicles" and "The Balls on The Falls".
