About Renaissance Man (or Woman)

Renaissance Man (or Woman). Get yours at bighugelabs.com/flickr
For those people who are artists and scientists and philosophers and mathematicians and photographers and musicians and engineers and story-tellers and architects and biologists and thinkers.

This group is not for the family photos or the garden variety travel shots. It is for original and creative works of art, scientific observations, showing fascinating aspects of nature such as Fibonacci spirals, engineering creations or for looking at the world in new ways. They didn't have 3D photos, ultra-zoom, computer graphics, animations and the Mandelbrot sets in Leonardo's day, but he surely would have enjoyed them if they had, so they are in too.

Please make sure that the description of pictures includes an explanation so that others can see why this relates to one or more of the subject matters of the group. Multiple aspects such as artist seeing architecture or musician seeing patterns in nature always adds to things but is not necessary.

The group is private but if you fit the description then don't be shy about asking. Please keep to the topic and show us just your best work, limit 30 photos per month.

"A Renaissance man or Homo universalis is a common term that refers to a person who excels in many fields of work and knowledge. The term comes from the seemingly great number of activities famous Renaissance masters were involved in. For instance, Leonardo da Vinci was an expert in art, mathematics and engineering, as well as many other fields. A gentleman or courtier of that era was expected to speak several languages, play a musical instrument, write poetry and so on, thus fulfilling the Renaissance ideal." - Wikipedia

May also be called a Polymath. Famous Renaissance men have included Leonardo di ser Piero da Vinci, Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.
