31 Dec 07 - Happy New Year, everyone! I have decided to close the book on this concept and would like to thank all of you for your participation. It was so much fun! I will look forward to seeing you all at the next Second Life Birthday Celebration ... the SL5B! Maybe we can come up with something even better! Thank you, again!

About The Red Curtain

The Story of the Red Curtain
by Silverdrake Sparrow

Once there was a woman who was very mixed up about her life. She'd discovered many things she thought to be true were in fact the opposite. She despaired, and would have killed her avatar, were it not for a little group of creative people who invited her into their circle whilst celebrating the birthday of their world.

One of these people was Arteer, who was building a spectacular scarlet and black exhibition space. These being the woman's favorite colors, she stopped by to admire it, and there discovered something Arteer had put in her space: a diaphanous swathe of fabric the color of life. The woman felt drawn irresistably to this tiny, womb-like room - she slipped inside and noticed a wondrous picture on the interior, the grand curves of Arteer's luscious behind. The woman's mind being primarily focused on the connections between things, she took a picture of her own ass in front of the picture of Arteer's. Thus, behind the sheltering drapery, the idea for a collaborative project was born.

Each person who takes their picture at the Red Curtain endows it with ideas and experiences: as it absorbs layers of meaning, it gives back something to the visitor. For some, it is a confessional; for others, a shared moment with friends. It is a constant in all the pictures, though it can change from solid and bright, to translucent or shadowed; it can be opened or closed, it becomes a backdrop or a veil; it reveals and conceals.

Those who visit the curtain and take part in the project become connected to all those who have come before them: thus the curtain exists in time as well. A virtual object, a mere set of prims, and yet, an icon endowed with meaning.

All Hail the Red Curtain!

This group is all about posing in front of Arteer's Red Curtain.

My fondest desire is that, after SL4B is over, the curtain will be immortalized in a publicly accessible place so that it can continue its transformation into a Flickrite Icon, as pilgrims flock to take their photograph in front of it, bare-assed or not, as the case may be.

All Hail the Red Curtain!
