About Real West

A collection of Real Western terrain, old farming and ranching views, buildings and tools, the prairie views as well as the animals and people who did the work and look the part. Locations, circumstances, actual history should be included as a learning experience for the viewers. Think of images that you might find in an old history book.

Real West will be steered toward a great group. Maybe you can find some good invites that might up the quality. Groups are far easier to create than to maintain. Administration will be tougher in this than in other groups. Requests for membership will be accompanied with the replies with reasons for inclusion or rejection. Suggestions should help guide applicants to post constructive images here. It is intended that there be great flexibilty within the guides in that images don't need to be photographs but need some part of their subject matter to support and further the REAL WEST. If you have feedback, drop a line. All feedback deserves consideration.

Over-saturation, extravagant borders, HDRs, cement skies, photographic science fiction and other techniques, not your own, need not be posted here. This is the "REAL" West group. If a thumbnail screams HDR, it will probably be dinged without notice.

"Geo-tagging your shots is highly encouraged but not required. Being able to find the exact location of a photograph is very nice. We realize there are times the photographer won't reveal locations because of privacy or trespass issues." Phil Nickell, Moderator
