New computer and RawShooter registration problems.

swedrftg [deleted] says:

I got a new computer last week and I redownloaded RawShooter essentials. Everytime I open it I get a dialog box telling me to register it.

Of course, this isn't possible as the servers are down forever. Is there a way around it? Or are there any other free editors similar to RawShooter?

Pixmantec RawShooter Essentials 2006 has been sold to Adobe. And the last I've heard is they are allowing a free update to Adobe Lightroom for owners of Pixmantec RawShooter Essentials 2006. Contact Adobe and find out !

You won't be able to register RawShooter Essentials because it is no longer a supported product since the Adobe buy-out. You can continue to use it unsupported, however -- just click through the registration dialogue boxes.

Yes I know it's been sold but it will still work with out regestering. You can also still get rawshooters essentials 2006 at ( download.com ) I just bought a new computer and went to download.com and went to image editing and did the search for rawshooters essentials 2006 and there it was. I downloaded it and followed the wizard and it's working great. :-)

It took me pretty much all day, but I finally found out which CLSID GUID that Pixmantec was using as the hidden location for their "registered" value. I've cobbled together a small utility with Visual Studio that sets these keys and banishes the registration box forever.

Please, by all means, be sure you virus scan it, but it's a clean, tiny app. It does run on .NET 1.1, but I'm pretty sure most everyone has that on their machines by now.

You're welcome.

I recently downloaded RawShooter. It said that you can't use it without registering but there's no way to register it. So I used JRocheleau's patch to get around it.

However, I still can't see any raw files. My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi and the files are .CR2 files.
Am I doing something wrong?
