About Rainforest Alliance Photo Contest 2011
Welcome to the 2011 Rainforest Alliance "Picture Sustainability" Photo Contest, sponsored by Fujfilm. Please take a moment to read the contest rules. You must agree to the rules in order to submit photos to the group and enter the contest.
Deadline
Entries can be uploaded starting at 4 pm EST on June 15, 2011. All entries must be submitted to the group pool by 4 pm EST on October 14, 2011. Winners will be notified on or around December 7, 2011.
The Rainforest Alliance reserves the right to adjust any deadlines as the result of causes beyond its immediate control.
Categories
Forests: boreal, tropical or temperate forests
Water: rivers, streams and waterfalls; beaches; wetlands; coral reefs
Wildlife: insects, birds, mammals, amphibians, reptiles or fish
People & Planet: images that celebrate communities and culture, or that depict children and/or adults conserving natural resources, including water, flora and fauna, or engaging in environmental education
Macro Imagery: close-up or macro images that reveal the splendor of the natural world
You must indicate which category you are submitting your image to by tagging it with that category's name. Please select one category only. Images that are not tagged with a category name will be disqualified.
Judging, Winners and Prizes
Preliminary judging and scoring will be done by a panel of judges from the Rainforest Alliance. Up to 25 finalists (up to five in each category) will be selected. The Rainforest Alliance will then post the finalists for each category on its website and invite the public to vote on category winners. A maximum of five Category Prize winners, one for each category, will be chosen. Finalists for each category will also be sent to Art Wolfe, world-renowned wildlife and nature photographer, who will select one Grand Prize winner.
The Grand Prize winner will receive a six-day, five-night eco-tour for two to Guatemala. The trip includes stops in the city of Antigua, a UNESCO World Heritage site, combined with a tour of a nearby volcano and Lake Atitlán, for an experience of Guatemala’s cultural and natural gems.
Category winners will receive a FUJIFILM FinePix HS20EXR camera, case and SD card. All winners will also receive an honorary one-year membership to the Rainforest Alliance.
