About QuickTake
Pictures by or of the Apple QuickTake cameras.
General
The Apple QuickTake is one of the earliest consumer digital cameras. More details and a bit of history at the QuickTake Wikipedia article. See these two pictures here and here for annotations on the QuickTake 150. The manuals are still available on the Apple website.
Quality Issues
The QuickTake does not take the best pictures in the world. It is after all a very early consumer level camera. It tends to over-saturate the Red channel and pulverize the Blue channel. The Green channel is quite smooth. See this picture for more details. Some of these issues can be corrected. See this tutorial from The Luminous Landscape. A little work in Photoshop can make it's pictures come out nicely.
Batteries
The manual recommends against using Alkaline batteries and suggests using Lithium. I personally use a set of NiCd salvaged from a broken cordless phone with no problems. Any rechargeable should work fine. If you do choose to use Alkaline be aware that they will not last very long.
