About Quay People
On the 15th October 2011, Creative Tourist organised an event for photographers in the Manchester area as part of the Manchester Weekender festival.
The participants turned up at the University of Salford to meet with the renowned professional photographer Len Grant in order to work together to produce an Exhibition in a Day.
The photos in this group were taken after the participants received their brief - the task was to approach ordinary people going about their business in the area and ask them to pose for a photo. This task would put many of the participants outside of their comfort zone and as such would encourage them to take photos that they may not have ordinarily taken.
Once the photos had been taken, they were curated as a group activity and the chosen photos were exhibited digitally on the large screen at The Egg, University of Salford. Participants had encouraged their chosen subjects to come along to the exhibition and a good number of people attended.
