Here is a short and somehow poetic description (thanks to Sy Lehrman) of a quaternion:
It is a quaternial fractal image, or if you prefer, a two dimensional picture of a three dimensional slice of a four dimensional mathematical object.
Quats seem to be a very rare species ... ;-) I'll keep on looking for more.
