15 Jan 10 - Paul Barnett, the Purton Hulk Guru has joined the group! He has very kindly listed all the dates and times of his walks for 2010. If you are at a loose end on a sunday do make the effort to go along, you will be amazed at just how much there is to learn and he will be very pleased to see you.

About Purton and its Barges

The Purton Barges are old boats that have been used to shore up the banks of the River Severn to stop it eroding the Gloucester & Sharpness Canal. There is a timelessness down there and it's time we showcased the barges and environs.

I classify Purton as from the Water treatment plant towards Slimbridge down to the old rail swing bridge, but of course this includes the village, river and canal as well.
