The true inventors of Psychedelic Music were the Beatles,who as far back as 1965 were beginning to explore horizons others had yet to sight.Once the touring had ceased they were able to spend more time in the studio and came up with Strawberry Fields Forever.
This is where the gestation period ended and the new music was finally born.
Once America got involved they would claim Psychedelic Music was invented by them but the true facts are that all the bands who adopted the genre had been playing folk music a year earlier,whether the Jefferson Airplane or the Grateful Dead.or the Thirteenth Floor Elevators or the Strawberry Alarm Clock
Even the poster art was British influenced especially the bulbous lettering of Lucy Atwell.
Psychedelic music was thus born of straight ahead pop music which is where the Beatles were before Sgt Pepper whatever all the books say.
The genre was also revived in England during Liverpool's 2nd Coming in the late 70s,especially the Teardrop Expodes/Julian Cope, and would eventually evolve into Ambience.
