About Promicrol - Past and Present

For all those whom have used the original May & Baker Promicrol and those whom have begun using the modern formulation.

No special requirements to post here, just keep it safe and only films processed in Promicrol past or present formulations. Just tag your images: Promicrol.

You can post Black and White, or Duo/Tri tones as long as the original was processed in, Promicrol. Otherwise it will be deleted.

No need to comment when you post but it is nice to do so should you feel you want to say something. The main purpose of the group is to have a home to post to specifically for this developer.

For anyone who hasn't heard of Promicrol.

Promicrol is considered by many to be one of the best speed-increasing developers ever made. Sadly, one of its key ingredients, 2(beta-hydroxyethyl) aminophenol sulphate (aka HEAP sulfate), is no longer in production anywhere in the world. It was discontinued as this key ingredient was deemed to be carcinogenic.

The modern formulation is different to the original and is an extremely good developer, especially for fast films giving at least 1 stop and best two stops increase over the normal ISO rating of the film. It gives a fine, tight grain structure which is surprising.
