must your photo of the day be from that day?
|
This is my 2nd 365, i did one 2 years back with my first purchase of a DSLR and figured it was the best way to familiarise myself with the camera. It worked and by the end of the year i could see progress. In the first year i was quite a stickler with the rule that the photo had to be a photo taken from the day itself - inevitably you have your bad days and then there are also the good days where you wished you could post more than one photo - sadly because of this rule those photos never see the light of day and get shelved away...
now in my 2nd 365, i'm starting to give this rule a rethink and wondering if maybe this rule shouldn't matter as much as posting what you feel is a good picture for that day... and so if at the end of the day i feel nothing made the cut and i pick a photo from another day - it's ok too.
ultimately, i know we all make our own rules; it's a personal project afterall but i guess i wanted to hear your views...

Part of the challenge is to stick to only one picture of everyday. This makes you think and rethink about what you're doing.
I think it best if you stick to the rules, but it's all up to you.

For this group, yes, your photo of the day must be taken that day. (but doesn't necessarily need to be updated to the group on that day) See rule #3
3. photos must not have been taken on the same day as any other photo in the pool by the same person since by definition, Project 365! should only have one photo per day by a user (please note that compilations of multiple photos into one is NOT okay)

I've noticed that when I crop a photo in photoshop that the date in the exif info becomes the date of the cropping, which makes it appear as though I missed a day. :( Should I just post the original beside it on my photostream, or does that even matter?
By the way, this is WAAAAy fun, and I am beginning to love my camera! Thanks everyone!

I've noticed that when i've processed in Photoshop, then Picasa to add my particular frame and watermark, my exif info disappears.
Nightmare!
But it's a learning process and my first Project 365! is well under way. I've taken shots in carwashes, whislt my car is getting cleaned to kite surfers and climbers.
All good stuff and it's all fun!

For this group, your photo of the day is supposed to be from that day. Also, originally, the idea was not to have processed photos so the issue of losing the original date after editing shouldn't even come up, but I know that many people don't follow that rule at all....

Not even to crop? That is all I do for this group. I didn't see that in the rules when I started, or I would have used other photos, and not ones that needed to be cropped. Would you please allow cropping- or just "minor" processing- like red-eye removal? By the way, this group and the 365 challenge have been very good for my developing skills. Thank you for creating it!
