About Progressive Wednesday

At progressivewednesday.com, we believe that the end of big problems begins with small solutions, and we're striving for a gradual and continuous progressive shift in this country. With your help, PW will create a community of like-minded folks looking to make change through ideas, art, and action. For more info, click HERE.

Share your photos and be considered for our photo of the week, our photo of the month, and our 2008 Progressive Wednesday calendar. Starting in June, we'll begin selecting favorites. In December, the PW staff will select photos for our calendar from the pool of favorites and, in addition to a totally hip icon under their picture, each winner will receive a bumper sticker, t-shirt, and a copy of the calendar. We will also post selected daily photos from the group to the "One Photo Of Our Beautiful World" section of our site which you can see at the right side of our "prog" (progressive blog). In other words, we believe that your photography and artwork will inspire others to join with us and make progress.

We apologize for the somewhat formal tone of what follows, but we want to be clear as Crystal Pepsi:

• We prefer horizontal photos over vertical ones.

• As if it needs to be said, no nudity, overly suggestive images, or sexual situations, please and thanks. We're a family friendly group.

• We can't believe we have to write this, but please no posting of dead animals, disturbing photos, graphic violence, or obscenities to the group pool or threads.

• Please feel free to invite photographers to our group:

• For every photo you post, we ask that you share your progressive love with other group members by selecting a fave and/or posting a comment or two. And if you don't mind, let them know that you saw their photo in the Progressive Wednesday group.

• Regardless of the copyright restrictions you’ve put on your photograph through Flickr, by submitting to our group pool, you agree to allow us to use the photo to help our progressive cause. By that we mean that you allow us to use the photo in the following elements of our website: blog entries, the masthead, our daily photo, our weekly photo, our monthly photo, our MySpace page, and in other social networking and online resources that we do or may rely on.

• Here’s the good, good news: every photo submitted will be considered for our weekly and monthly contests. Winners of the monthly contest will be highlighted on progressivewednesday.com, our MySpace page, and our Flickr Group thread with links back to the winner’s Flickr page. Monthly winners also receive a Progressive Wednesday t-shirt and bumper sticker. Weekly winners will receive all of the progressive sweetness mentioned above, save the t-shirt and bumper sticker (don't tell anyone, but all you have to do is ask for the bumper sticker, and we'll make sure you get one pronto!).

• To make life a wee bit easier, please tag your photo with PW followed by the month and year you’re submitting for, like so: PWApril07.

• If you don’t mind, we’d dig it if you “geo tag” your photos, too.

• All photographs will be considered for our 2008 calendar. Check out this year's calendar "Framing Nature: A World Worth Saving 2007" for yourself HERE. If you permit us to use your photograph in our calendar, you’ll snag yourself the t-shirt and bumper sticker mentioned above, along with a free copy of the calendar itself containing your progressively phat photo. You'll also receive credit as one of the contributing photographers and oodles of our gratitude!

• No other compensation, besides those previously described, will be given. Well, wait -- we almost forgot the sweet ProgressiveWednesday.com icon under your selected picture, if you're cool with that...we're not trying to SPAM anyone, honest! Oh, and you get the bonus compensation that comes with knowing you’re helping make the country a better place.

• One last thing, my peeps. Should you get rude or out of line to any of the Administrators or Moderators it is cause for instant banning that will not be undone. But why would you be rude? You're a progressive just like us.
