About Pretentious comments

Are you fed up with comments like “Nice composition and colours”? Because, if you are, this is the pool for you!
Okay, so we’ve all done it. But sometimes, wouldn’t it be nice for people to recognise that your macro of a flower with a bug on it was, in fact, a profound - universal, even - confirmation of the symbiotic nature of existence, and not just an opportunity to say “nice DoF”?
Do you hunger for acknowledgement that your latest upload is a searing insight into the dichotomy of modernity and tradition in a globalising world, and not just a snap of a cute kid weaing a Britney teeshirt on a remote island that doesn’t even have a broadband internet café (let alone a Starbucks) yet?
Then read on…
The Rules
1. You must comment on the photo immediately to the right of yours in the pool. You may comment on any other photos that take your fancy.
2. Your comment must be pretentious, over the top and ridiculous in some way. How you want to do this is up to you: you can deconstruct the photo, give it a Marxist analysis, ponder its significance in the wake of post-Straussian neoconservatism, analyse it in the style of Foucault, Dickens or in Nadsat, or evaluate it according to your favourite theories on art or literature. Whatever. It doesn’t matter.
3. People making insufficiently pretentious, over the top or ridiculous comments will be sneered at for their intellectual poverty. They may also have themselves or their photos removed from the pool, or may be banned, but any or all of these actions will be at admin discretion.
4. Footnotes and references are acceptable. This group uses the Harvard system for references.
5. Don’t post two or more photos in a row. Wait until someone else has posted a photo before adding another.
6. Please copy and use the group tag when making comments. You wouldn’t want people to think you were being serious now, would you?
GROUP TAG - please copy and paste this after your comment

** I made this comment in the <a href="http://www.flickr.com/groups/pretentiouscomments/">Pretentious Comments</a> Group, and all I got was this lousy discourse on postmodernism **
