About Powerhouse Museum photo competition

We are really excited to announce that Trainspotting 2012 is now open and we encourage professionals and amateurs to enter this competition and be as creative and experimental in your approach.

We have a number of categories that you can enter your photos into for the chance to win a great prize. Check out our website for all the details including our terms and conditions.

Trainspotting competition categories are:

Steam trains (can include locomotive only or locomotive with carriages)

Diesel electric or electric trains or trams (can include locomotive or power car only or locomotive or power car with carriages)

Railway infrastructure, including architecture and design (can include buildings and permanent installations such as stations, platforms, tracks, rail bridges, rail signage, turntables, and so on.)

Trainspotting (in which the subject is the hobby of observing and recording the numbers of railway locomotives and rolling stock)

People in railway and tram environments

Mobile phone (photos taken on a mobile phone to include any subjects from the above categories. This can include the use of various applications.)

Please provide a description of what inspired you to take this photo and where it was taken and it would be helpful if you can locate this on the Flickr map. It is important that you tag your photo according to the category otherwise we may not know which category you are entering your photos into. Each category will have one winner plus there will be one overall winner.

The Powerhouse Museum will be holding an exhibition of the winning entries and highly commended photographs and if you are selected we will need to ask you for a high resolution digital file for this purpose.

By entering your images in this group you are also allowing for this work to be shown on the Powerhouse Museum website and for the exhibition display.

Following the judging, the winners will feature along with highly commended entries in a display at the Powerhouse Museum in 2012.

Entries close at 5.00 pm Friday 29 June 2012 Australian Eastern Standard time.
