About Positive Focus

I hope that this message finds you well and this holiday season's memories will bring a smile to your face for years to come.
I have recenty joined the Board of Directors of PositiveFocus.org, an organization that supports emerging photo artists. One of my goals is to reach out to the incredibly talented photo artists on Flickr and begin a community conversation in support of the issues that we find important. Part of this is to bring awareness of PositiveFocus to this audience and part of this is to attempt to harness the energy and interests of the community and over time develop and deliver programs which encourages membership and participation.
To this end we have created a PositiveFocus.org group on Flickr:

One upcoming project of interest is "Body of Work" 2006:
Positive Focus will be looking for portfolios that share a signature style, tell a story or explore a theme for its annual “Body of Work” 2006 contest. This will be a juried competition of new, high-quality work.
With two months till the submission period opens there’s plenty of time to put together your own best “body of work.” This year for the first time entries and the portfolios of 8-16 images may be submitted and uploaded through an internet site. CDs and emails may also be submitted by regular mail. No more than two images in a portfolio may have been previously published or sold, with a two portfolio maximum.
Submissions for the contest may be made from February 1 to March 20, 2006. Selected photographers will be included in a digital show at our gala April 27th party, and a DVD of their work will be distributed to over 300 curators, photo editors, stock agencies and photo representatives.
