My name is Ana and I'm a portuguese chemical engineer, working as a quality, health and safety manager in a pipe factory! I live in the north of Portugal, very close to the sea in Porto.
A year ago, I took my first shot's with my Nikon D80. I have a AF-S DX Zoom-Nikkor 18-70mm f/3.5-4.5G IF-ED (3.8x) lens, but I'm considering to buy a 18-200mm f/3.5 (maybe Lani can help me with that).

Hello!
I'm Brazilian and I work with photography and my fave pics are portraits. I have a Nikon D50 + Nikkor 28-80mm 3.3-5.6+ SB800. Sometimes I use my boyfriend's Nikkor 18-200mm VR 3.5-5.6, or Tamrom 17-35mm 2.8-4 or Sigma 70-200mm 2.8. I've bought a Nikkor 50mm 1.8D that it'll be here in February.

Hi,

I'm Rebecca. Living in Maine, USA. I've been shooting since I joined flickr, which was Nov, 2007. Fell in love with it, upgraded to an SLR, the Nikon D40X. I try to be diverse in what I photograph, but really I am in love with people! I shoot people. Thank you for the invitation to your artistic group. I am very new at photography. This is my first year at it. I hope to upgrade to a better camera this year. I use a Canon S3 IS which is a great beginning camera but see the need to expand. I have mostly been shooting landscape pics and am now exploring portraits. Hi, you may guess that my name is Chris of (Saudi) Arabia. The name is a bit of a play on the TE Lawrence (of Arabia) thing and is a long standing joke. I'm not normally much of a portrait photographer, but would say that I'm warming to it and very much inspired by Steve McCurry's work. Hopefully you'll find time to have a look through some of my recent stuff which was done in the nearby camel souk, a constant source of material (and washing to get rid of the smell).

My portraits are mostly recreated history, especially from the Howick Historical Village, Auckland, New Zealand. Victorian life from 1840 to about 1880 is re-lived here, with costumed actors involved in street theatre. I am more at home with technical photography, but the village wants its live activities recorded and so I have been roped in.

hi evrybody!
my name's Reed (héhéhé you'll never know the real one!) and i living in France, SOuth Ouest, where there are a lot of ducks and cows. nothing never happens and so i had to go to Pau for my studies. i discovered that some houses have more than two floors and that sometimes, the have something like 7 floors! amazing !!!!
anyway, i started to take pictures last summer and it is now over almost a year, being more and more happy every day.
now i have to go to the restaurent (granma grettin') so i stop here...

Hello everyone!

I'm a tattoo artist and body piercer .
The portrait I'm going to post is of my son, Dylan. The photo wasn't meant to be portrait quality, actually. I was merely playing around with the black and white setting on my Sony Cybershot 7.2 that I've had for years...
Truthfully, I'm not a very good photographer.... which you're welcome to see by visiting my profile..lol
But I'm learning...slowly. And I always have things to photograph. Specially my son, who is NOT camera shy!

My prefered tools are the Canon EOS 40D and the Canon A-1. Further I use some smaller cameras like the Canon Ixus 850 IS and the Canonet GIII QL17.

Hi,
I just joined the group and posted my first picture to the group. I like portrait photography, but I do not have very much opportunity for it. I am not a professional photographer, so I use my free time for pursuing this interest. I live in Tallinn, Estonia. I started photography quite long time ago. I got my first camera when I was in the first grade. It was Smena, a Soviet production camera. The next one was gorgeous - Zenith, a reflex film camera. And I was quite active in photography till my twenties. Then the family and children and career took all the time. There was a long gap when I did not take any picture. Until some four years ago when I got my first digital camera - Konica Minolta Z2. It became too little too fast and now I am using Pentax K100D. A decent piece for a person at my level of experience. With Pentax zoom lens (18-250).
I hope for interesting exchanges in the group.

Hello! I'm Danielle from Michigan. I haven't been doing photography for very long. Heck, I really started when I went to college as a photography major. Before that I just got lucky with disposable cameras. I'm taking time off from school now but I still do photography. For the moment I mostly use my Canon Powershot SD600. I also use my Canon Rebel 2000 and instant Polaroid. I'm always looking to try new ideas and improve on what I know. My main focus is portrait photography.

About portraits, I once heard that "it is one thing to take pictures of what a person looks like, it's a another thing to take a portrait of who they are! Hi, I'm Kory from Orange County, California. I am an insurance attorney (I sue insurers) and I love photography (although I presume all flickr members do or why else would they be here). I have recently become more involved in photography by shooting some of my firm's portraits and my pregnant wife (she recently delivered).
I have a Canon XTi, a kit lens, a 50mm f/1.4, a 17-55 EF-S f/2.8 and a Canon 70-300 IS, along with a Canon macro screw on filter, other filters and a 430EX flash. I am looking to buy some Alien Bees strobe lights and other equipment to create a home studio soon. I also use Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0 and Lightroom 1.0 for editing and database collection.
It is great to meet other photo enthusiasts and hear feedback that helps me gain more knowledge and hopefully shoot better in the future.

Currently living in Northern Ireland, but spent most of my life in Yorkshire, Northern England.
Had my Samsung GX-10 for 7 months, a finepix s5700 befpre that.
Kit lens, Sigma 70-300mm and an old, fully manual 50mm prime, great for portraits!
Oh, and Photoshop CS2, can't forget that!!!!! lol
Self taught from magazines, like to think i'm a fast learner though!!
