Welcome! from Julia Kay, your Portrait Party host.
A Portrait Party is an event where artists get together and draw each other. Since we live all over the world, it's not always possible to get together in person. This group (affectionately known as JKPP) Is a virtual Portrait Party in which artists draw each other from photos posted for that purpose. All members of the group are therefore both subjects of portraits and creators of portraits.
JKPP is still in full swing and open to new members by application.
If you want to join the Party, you should be open to different interpretations of your photos - for instance, in my drawings people often look older and grumpier than they are, or more colorful. Not all of the artists work in a realistic style - some portraits are more abstract or conceptual. If this will make you uncomfortable, you shouldn't participate.
That said, the intent of JKPP is to celebrate each other while growing in our artistic abilities in a supportive environment. Therefore:
* No nudity
* No violence
Admins will remove all of the above, and any other images which are demeaning, at their discretion. If your portraits include these elements or are otherwise intended to make your subjects uncomfortable, then you also shouldn't participate.
If you have nude images in your photostream - photographs or drawings - you must follow flickr guidelines and mark them as moderate before applying to join.
If you accept these guidelines, please upload some publicly-viewable images of your non-photographic artwork to your flickr account before applying to join. During the join process, be sure to answer all the questions. If you're approved, you'll be sent an email with the technical details about how the group works.
Approval emails usually go out about 3-4 weeks after application. Thanks for your patience.
