About folly's Portable Pixel Playground
This unique project is a playground for a new generation. Not only does it tap into the national mindset of getting children active and using technology in a more healthy way, but it also introduces them to digital art as every item of play equipment. It is also a piece of specially commissioned digital artwork.
Clare Gannaway, Portable Pixel Playground project manager for folly says: "Portable Pixel Playground is fast becoming one of the North West's favourite attractions. It's a unique project and a digital and artistic first for the region".
Comments from visitors to previous events include, "Interactive art is so universally enjoyable, it's awesome, but being freely available to the public like this is uncommon. I want more!", "We enjoyed the variety of resources: tactile, visual, stimulating. Excellent very impressed" and "Very visual, intriguing even for someone with little technological knowledge".
Portable Pixel Playground is a flagship project for folly, and with funding until 2010 from Big Lottery Fund's Playful Ideas programme, the project is set to grow and develop as it tours Lancashire and Cumbria.
