09 Aug 09 - Sometime affectionately known as a "cop shop" or "nick". Past or present, large or small, temporary or permanent, anywhere which was/is a village police station, a precinct house, a headquarters, a training academy even - as long as it was at one time a building used as a base for one or more law enforcement officers. Photographs or postcard views, and close-ups of architecture or 'furniture' (lamps, signs, notice board holders, insignia, coats of arms), all welcome.

About Police StationsIn previous times each town and village, and rural areas, too each had their own Police Station. Over time there may have been several such locations in a single village, as a new (larger) building replaced an older one. The purpose of this group is to show past and present police buildings, whether a large Headquarters, or a dwellinghouse with an office attached or a room used for police work, or a freestanding hut or shed (OR A POLICE BOX), or a shop unit let in a shopping mall. Quite simply, the history and geography of anywhere a police officer would have worked and used as his/her office. |
