SX-70 broken?

Just picked up an SX-70 at the local thrift store. When you look through the viewfinder it is completely dark. I already have one of these that works, but thought it would be fun to try and repair. Any thoughts on what might be wrong?

Does anyone know of a site that shows you how to take it apart? I'm having trouble finding any screws so far.

Thanks!

There might not be any real problem.

>> If the camera is "stuck" in mid-cycle, inserting a film pack should fix it.

>> It's possible the viewfinder cap isn't completely open.

The SX-70 is a not a simple camera to repair. Don't even think about taking it apart.

First thing insert a film pack as QMM mentioned, i have had sx-70's where the mirror is just stuck like that and inserting a pack fixes it.

If you put the new pack in and then the motor keeps running constantly then maybe have a read of this discussion :http://www.flickr.com/groups/sx-70/discuss/72157615738019429/
The problem discussed there is another problem that can make the mirror stick.

There are a few more discussions in the sx-70 group also covering the same issue.

The sx-70 is not actually that hard to take apart so do consider it if you need to do it.
I used this website as a guide and succesfully have opened a couple and repaired them now.

there was a film pack inside when I got it, shutter wouldn't fire and you couldn't see through the viewfinder, so while it's possible the battery died in the old pack, I'm thinking there is an issue.
