Plzeň is the fourth biggest city in the Czech Republic. It is a center of West Bohemia and has a dominate position in industrial, commercial, cultural and administrative center. The city has a lng history - it was founded in 1295 and very soon economicaly developed. Nowadays, Plzeň is located on 125 square kilometers and has approximately 167 000 inhabitants. Historical center of the city was declared as a "City Sight Reservation". Most valued sights are especially gotic cathedral of St. Bartoloměj (Bartholomeus), renaissance townhall, baroque rebuildings of the archdiocese and the closter of the order Františkáni and the jewish synagogue, which is the third biggest in the world. During the industrialization there were founded well-known industrial giants - engineering complex Škoda and the brewery Plzeňský Prazdroj.
