19 Dec 09 - Unfortunately we've gotten a wide range of just those things that specifically do NOT fit our focus, including studio work, still lifes, abstracts, allegory, and nude photographs, so submissions to this group are now moderated--sorry for the necessity, but asking repeatedly didn't work.

Its more work this way and I don't like acting as hall monitor, but at least the group WILL retain its integrity and focus. My apologies to all who DID maintain focus...

About Painting plein aire

Painting outdoors on the spot is a discipline all to itself. I was amazed not to find any groups on Flickr devoted to this wonderful and fulfilling art, so I made one. (And as it turns out, must have been part of Flickr's hiccups yesterday, because a new search today turned up another group with that in the title. Oh well, we're here now!)

Travel sketches and paintings, works done in the fresh air and at all seasons and locales--here's a place for them all. It's wonderful to see other people's work in the field...and even photos of that work on the site. Include your materials and supplies, yourself painting, your travel journal with its subject...just not photos of landscape alone, etc.

So please, if you paint plein air--watercolor, acrylics, oil, mixed media, even on the spot drawings--feel free to add your work here. Only three a day per person, if you will, so we're not overrun with images from one person.

This is not the place to share your studio paintings, portraits, nudes, still life, no matter how gorgeous--we focus on painting on the spot, outdoors. So please share your plein air work! (I hate to do it, but I do remove work that doesn't fit our focus.)
