19 Jan 10 - These maps are part of a project we're running at Northumbria University (Newcastle upon Tyne). We're working with Northern Architecture & Dance City towards an event on the 19th June 2010 where we'll unveil the maps along with photos, video & psychogeography interpretation of skateboarding in Newcastle.

About play:space newcastle

Name: play:space newcastle

play:space explores the skateboard scene of Newcastle, Gateshead and around about in north-east England. Local skaters have been doodling & scrawling maps of their days re-inventing the buidlings and streets of Tyneside. Pscyhogeography maps of favourite spots, legends, food, hates. And not a listed Dobson-Grainger building to be seen.

Yes, The skaters get banned, fined, excluded; maybe all because no one can make money out of you having fun for free.

A final map will be unveiled at Dance City in Newcastle on June 19th 2010, along with photos and video from local skaters. All welcome; come along to add your map.
