You need the invite and 6 stars to enter the photo of the week contest.
Admin and Mod stars count as a star towards the total of five
Bottom line, stars can make your photo a front page star, so give em out, and you just may get em back!

When someone sends you an invite that is only partially the invite code, does the photo you post get deleted by the sweeper?
For example, I received the following invitation (no spinning image):
"Photograph
We would be honored to have your photo in our group!
Please tag your photo with platinumphoto
Questions?"

I just wanted to mention that I don't think it's very fair to not count additional invites as a star. I know to delete my photos from the 'request invite' thread once they've been invited (and I follow that rule), but sometimes I've received that second invite before I knew I'd gotten the first one. It seems harsh to rob me of an award just because I didn't check back often enough (I have a life outside of Flickr, you know), or because someone else didn't bother to copy 'n paste the other comment code.

if we were invited, well cool !
but maybe would be better to focus on something else than so many (too much) rules ? as ... make photos for exemple ?

Joe ---
If noone deleted their photos, that thread would eventually become pages & pages long, and equivilent to a second pool. People who did choose to follow the rules, wouldn't have a fair chance with their own images. It's a rule that takes someone 2 seconds to follow... and a standard rule amoung flickr groups.
Besides, whats the point of leaving your photo in the 'need an invite' thread if it was invited? Wouldn't you want a chance to collect stars and enter contests? If you have enough time to add it to the group, you have time to delete it from the thread too.
If someone doesn't care for the rule... then it's as simple as not posting in the invite thread :-) You never have to worry then!
Groups with no rules on flickr don't tend to do well... groups with structure, tend to have high quality images, and active participants... they are in place for a reason... the beauty of it all is.. we have a choice as to what groups suit our needs/desires and what don't!
I'd love to have more time to focus on photography, and if people keep following the rules... myself, the other mods, and other members will :-)

I sent the mail to Scott M Duncan with the question - Why my photo was delited from the group? No answer. Now I repeat it. There was an invitation but I've got a stupid message from the admin "Your photo was removed from Platinum Superstars as it is a strict invite only group ". Why stupid? Because I never was a memeber of Superstars and my photo was delited from *Platinum Photography. So, WHY it was delited? Hope I will get the answer.

Kuzdra, sorry for no response, I get dozens of emails liek yours each day. There was a glitch in the sweeper, and it was issuing the wrong removal comment. Responding to every email would be impossible. When someone posts an improper code (which is what happened with your photo) the sweeper does not see it. I will put a proper invite in your stream and I hope you understand. Feel free to repost.

Many many people use improper codes. The reason extra invites don't count is that many people pick up several in the want an invite thread. May not be what happened in your case, but it has to be that way, or the contest would become completely unmanageable.

Well looking through this pool i am quite amazed at some of the crap gets invited here, shocked really.....not to single anyone out but if this didnt have a title i would be lost to know what it was... www.flickr.com/photos/iffybear/2366659157/in/pool-platinu...
This pool abounds in underexposed sunsets and mundane pics and wondering if admins do any quality control here?....sorry this sounds harsh and not admins fault and partialy my own for not paying attention, i just presumed u had great pics here but hard pressed to choose if catchy colours is a better choice on average...sorry

@bennett.derekwilliam, people who view your photo in the photo stream will decide to award a star sometimes photos are not awarded to the full six star awards they wish for it happens in any group! If you do receive four stars we also have another thread to post for "needed stars" once awarded six stars then you can advance. Each thread has this information preceeding entering into, please read.

Hi, I'm Frank. The latest photo in my stream received an invite, but when I go to send it it says "you photo could not be added because it violates the pool rules". It is not flagged or contain nudity. It is a "safe" photo.

@jsph_lovato, sometimes when someone gives an invite not all of the code is included, the pool sweeper doesn't recognize the error it looks for the full code. Please repost and email notifying this happened, it rarely occurs. Thanks!
