About Pit Village Pulchritude
The unique and lovely architecture and remains of the coal mining communities of England and Wales, plus their sister villages and workings in various parts of the wider world. By wider world we mean the UK only, for now. Until we get on our feet. Maybe even then.
Pictures of beauty, pictures of poverty. Coal owners' palaces, back yards and nettys. Fallen winding wheels, found pit tokens. Glossed up Davy Lamps, dropped railyards.
Documenting the end of the end of King Coal and the beginning of something else.
We'll make it up as we go along for a week or two, as we create the shape and fate of this wee emergent corner of photographic history.
