06 May 10 - Just a reminder, if there's no face in your photo, it's not a portrait (by our definition, anyway) and will be removed from the pool. Thanks!

About Pinhole Portraiture

Portraits taken with pinhole cameras. Why? Because slowing the process of portrait photography waaaay down makes interesting demands on both model and photographer and can create hauntingly beautiful or hysterically absurd portraits that neither party can see until the film is processed.

A portrait is a painting, photograph, sculpture, or other artistic representation of a person, in which the face and its expression is predominant. - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portrait. Read: Not just a body, or a body part but a portrait (face). Photos will no longer queue up waiting for approval but if you post something that doesn't have a face in it or isn't an actual portrait, I'll remove it.

Pinhole portraiture demands skill, patience, focus, endurance and dedication, plus a certain willingness to do take risks. It makes both photographer and subject better for the experience. Also, it's fun.

No Photoshop fakery or extensive Photoshop editing, please. Nothing against you if you do it, but the aesthetic behind this group, is to see portraits created with a brain, hands and a little lens-free box, not to see fancy editing. There are other groups for that.

Also, let's keep things family friendly.
