Greetings from San Miguel Super Dry and Eventscape!

San Miguel Super Dry would like to thank you for joining us in Trendspotting, the San Miguel Super Dry Event Series featuring "LENS" . The photography exhibit and contest participated by the country's most promising and professional photographers and hobbyists reached its culmination last July 23, 2005 at the Filipinas Heritage Library.

San Miguel Super Dry will once again bring to life a different beer experience as LENS gathers all the photographers for a reunion on the 24th of August, 8:30 in the evening at Cuisine, The Fort. LENS promises to bring a night of good spirits and high energy to all photographers and guests—the event will witness the formal awarding of the prizes to the winners of the contest, a lucky photographer will get to take home one (1) brand new SLR digital camera (brand and model to be confirmed), and guests will also get to take home premium items and cool prizes from event partners.

In this occasion, we would like to have you on board with us once more as one of our featured photographers , and as such, your participation would entail the following:

o Submission of one (1) of your best works, printed in size 8x11 photo paper. This will be exhibited along with your Lens entry. (Optional)

o Permission to post your name, contact details and other trivia underneath your works. We aim to help in the promotion of your works.
* Extension of the invitation to other photographers, especially those who did not join the contest, as this event is to promote goodwill among all photographers.

We look forward to your enthusiasm in supporting this worthwhile endeavor. You shall be receiving your formal invitations very soon. The invitation shall serve as raffle entry to win an SLR digital camera and as your stub to get free Super Dry beer from the bar.

Should you have queries, please do not hesitate to contact us through 895-7471, 897-2676 or through my mobile number 0922-8122109.

CINE EUROPA 8

The eighth edition of Cine Europa unreels with an expanded run in
Manila (22 September to 02 October), Davao (07-09 October), and Cebu
(14-16 October).

With the UK assuming the presidency of the European Union, the
British Council is banking on wholesome family entertainment when it
fields "Millions" as this year's festival entry.

Danny Boyle, critically-acclaimed director of "28 Days"
and "Trainspotting", once again reinvents the cinematic experience
with a heartwarming story of two little boys, faith, miracles...and
lots of money.

Starting anew after the death of their mother, 9-yr-old Anthony and
7-yr-old Damien rely on practicality, imagination, and faith to make
sense of their confusing world. Meanwhile, as Britain converts to
the euro, the criminal world seizes its biggest opportunity:
billions of sterling headed for the incinerator. When a railway
heist goes wrong and a suitcase full of money falls out of the sky
and lands at Damien's feet, the boys set out on an adventure of a
lifetime that leads them to realise that true wealth has nothing to
do with money.

Produced by Mission Pictures, "Millions" stars an array of BAFTA
awardees led by James Nesbitt. It premiered at the Toronto
International Film Festival.

INSTITUTO CERVANTES

Instituto Cervantes & National Museum bring to Manila Major Exhibit of
Spanish Photography

As the opening event of the Spanish Month in the Philippines, Instituto
Cervantes, the Spanish Cultural Center, and the Museum of the Filipino
People will treat manileños with 150 Years of Photography in Spain, a
major photo exhibit that has been going around the world since September
of 2001. It has by far reached 25 cities in four continents.

The exhibition 150 Years of Photography in Spain will be opened next
September 27 in Manila’s Museum of the Filipino People by H.E. Ignacio
Sagaz, Ambassador of Spain, and National Artist Arturo Luz. It displays
113 photographs depicting people, nature and architecture, resulting in
a complete and chronological tour that covers all genres without
omitting any of the great photographers.

A splendid manifestation of what was and what is photographic art in
Spain, this impressive exposition encompasses everything from
professional daguerreotypes to the images of the first maestros, from
photojournalism to pictorialism, from the vanguard to documentary photography, from
official to popular, urban, and ethnographic photography, through to
the latest trends in the medium. Eminent Spanish photography historian
Publio López Mondéjar is the exhibition's curator and author of the
catalogue that accompanies it.

The visitors to the exhibition will have a chance to see the
photographs which for a long time were kept in the Spanish museums' depositories
and in private collections. The exhibition which displays some sixty
photographs from state and private collections shows not only the
development of photography in Spain but also the history of the country as a
whole.

The exhibit is divided into three sections, the first of which is made
up of the oldest photographs in the collection - daguerreotypes dating
from the mid 19th century, photos that record a variety of historical
and public events and customs, and portraits of the country's
inhabitants, all dating from before the beginning of the 20th century.

The second section focuses on the years 1900-1939, by which time
photography had become a widely used tool for documenting the most important
moments in the country's history, especially events of the Civil War of
the 1930s.

The third section of the exhibit consists of images depicting Spain's
spectacular exit out of the era of General Franco. Formally, these works
represented a departure from pictorial academism, a rupture exemplary
of the dynamic changes that were in the 1960s and 70s. It was during
these years that the reportage, used to record these changes, enjoyed its
heyday. Works dating from recent years represent the newest
explorations in Spanish photography, under which "pure" photography is slowly
being replaced by various experiments having their source in more general
trends evident in the contemporary arts.

The exhibition includes a series of works by well-known contemporary
photographers like Joan Foncuberta, Isabel Muñoz, Cristina García Rodero,
Pere Formiguera, Alberto García Alix, Ricky Dávila and Miguel Trillo.

The exhibit 150 Years of Photography in Spain will run from September
27 to November 6 at the National Museum of the Filipino People. It is
the opening event of FIESTA, Spanish Festival for Culture and the Arts,
organised yearly by Instituto Cervantes. For further information on the
exhibit and the Festival, please log on to manila.cervantes.es

DAKILA KA PILIPINAS!
(Philippine Collective for Modern Heroism

A Linisin ang Pilipinas Campaign

First project namin po ito sana ay supportahan nyo kami. Isa lang ito sa sangdamakmak na project ng DAKILA.

PROJECT DESIGN

Project Date: 3:00 p.m. January 27, 2006 (Friday)

January 28 - 29, 2006 (Saturday to Sunday) until we finish the clean up

Project Venue: Philippine Relief Map, Luneta Park, Manila

Program:

Clean Up of the Relief Map of the Philippines
The clean up will be the center piece activity of the campaign. It aims not only to clean the relief map but also if possible restore it to its old glory. If allowed by the Luneta administration, at the maximum, we plan to repaint the relief map.

Since the relief map is almost as large as a football field, we will need a lot of volunteers to get the work done. An efficient system of cleaning up must also be planned. We will not set a fixed target date to finish the clean up since the longer it takes us to clean the place, the longer we have an opportunity to educate people. However, logistical constraints may force us to limit it if possible to 2-3 days of work. The length of work will heavily depend on the number of volunteers we can mobilize. However, we are confident that we will be able to gather many volunteers.

We would be starting the clean up on the afternoon of the 27th of January and continue to do so until we finish the work. The whole cleaning process will start with the draining of the water from the relief map. As the water is drained, we need to take out the fishes from the area and place them in a safe container where they can be kept for a while. The grueling tasks of scrubbing and cleaning starts after this.

To ensure that we will have work force all through out the activity, we will be encouraging volunteers from schools, organizations and groups to commit a specific time when they can actually help in the cleaning. To systematize the cleaning process, volunteers will be guided by the Clean Up Committee during the actual cleaning. We will also encourage volunteers to bring with them cleaning materials that may help in the clean up. Cleaning materials will range from the usual materials to found objects we can use.

The key to the successful clean up of the map is the number of dedicated volunteers we can mobilize to be part of this endeavor. However, the gauge of our true success is how our activity has affected the general public’ s consciousness of the need not only to maintain the cleanliness of the Relief Map but also, more importantly, to realize that by getting themselves aware, educated and involved, they can make a difference and can truly be dakila in their own little way.

Program
The program is conceptualized to add flavor to the activity. More importantly, the program will reflect how art as a tool can help in instilling awareness, educating the people and inspiring them to get involved. Thus, the theme of the program will center on the DAKILA KA PILIPINAS concept.

Education on various issues and concerns will be the main thrust of the program. It will be incorporated in performances and every aspect of the program. Awareness and education are the crucial components of the program since our primary objectives are to 1) make the public aware that anyone can be DAKILA on their own little ways; 2) instill awareness and education on various issues affecting the nation and 3) inspire them to get involved.

Performers and participants will be free to speak up on matters related to the theme. Cause oriented organizations, groups and individuals will be encouraged to distribute information materials on various social issues. Artists, musicians, actors, film makers, journalists, writers, poets, models, and the like are all encouraged to share their thoughts on the theme either through their craft/performance or by saying something to the audience. At the minimum, their mere presence in the activity is already a strong statement of their support.

Visual Arts Exhibit
The program will also feature an exhibit of visual arts that portray the theme of the activity. Visual artists will be invited to showcase their works and/or come up with works during the event. A designated area will be set for mural making, painting and the like.

Fashion Show
Since uplifting Filipino pride and national dignity are the objectives of the activity, a fashion show is also set to feature works of designers using locally produced/native or indigenous materials and to showcase talents of Filipino designers.

Pinoy Fair
To help promote the local industry, a fair will be set up to showcase local products. Local products especially those coming from various regions of the country will be featured in this fair.

Listed below are the kind of materials we will be needing for the clean up. If you have these stuff at home, bring them for the clean up. You can also help us by donating some materials we may need. If you have contacts or knowledge on how to source out or avail of these materials, you can truly help us. Better yet, solicit materials for the clean up. Just coordinate with us if you can help us come up with the materials needed for the clean up.

Scrubs Basahan Aquarium /Fish Tanks Disinfectants
Brushes Mops Nets for catching fish Shovel (pala)
Gloves Timba (pail) White Paint (40 gallons) Thinner
Boots Tabo Paint Brushes Dustpan
Walis Tingting Container Drums Sacks (sako) & Garbage Bags Water for washing
Food for the Fish Truck (to collect the waste found in the map) Acrylic Paint (20 gallons each of Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, Brown, Black) Fire Truck (for water)

Linisin ang Pilipinas Campaign on January 27, 28, 29, 2006. (Friday to Sunday). The activity will start at around 3pm on the 27th and will go on until we finish the clean up. Hopefully, we may be able to finish it in 3-5 days. The program simultaneous with the clean up will be held January 27,28,29.

Thanks so much. Just text us for more details at 09228887527.

CINEMA LUNETA
February 11, 2006
Saturday, 6PM
Luneta (near Rizal Monument), Manila

CINEMALAMIG
a projection of various films on eight ice blocks, rendered translucent with a special material or chemical, will be utilized as a sculpture-like multidimensional screen to create a poetic, hallucinatory quality to the images as the ice melts.

CINEMANINGNING
a laser projection machine will be set up in the center of the park where the fountains are located. Various cinema-oriented visuals will then be projected all around the park utilizing trees, walls, buildings, even some monuments as screen. The effect will be like a series of flash animation movies circling around the park.

Cinemadali
where a short film video competition will be held with contestants limited to shoot their films in or around the vicinity of Rizal Park. The short film entries must have a running time of one to five minutes. Participants may choose whatever medium or format they prefer, including celluloid, digital, hi-def or even phonecam. Any genre is welcome, and contest is open to all, especially students enrolled in the dozens of schools within the periphery of Rizal Park.

Cinemagiting
where a movie screen will be set up facing the monument of Dr. Jose Rizal, our national hero. The film Bayaning Third World, directed by Mike De Leon in 2001, will be projected on this particular screen. As a surprise feature of the screening, Joel Torre (who plays Rizal in the film) will emerge through a gap on the screen as if by magic and in complete Rizal regalia, to interact with the audience.
