Picture This 2 - Once upon a time...

We are delighted to announce the return of Picture This - Waterstone's search to find the best new picture book illustrator. And even better news is that one of the world's greatest storytellers, Michael Morpurgo, has signed up for the second competition. Michael will write a brand new version of the nation's favourite fairy tale (as voted for by the general public) which will then be published as an illustrated picture book in 2012, initially as a Waterstone's exclusive. The illustrations will be the work of our Picture This competition winner.

About Picture This
Picture This is Waterstone's search for an unpublished illustrator to work with one of Britain's bestselling Children's authors and to see their illustrations in print. We first ran the competition in 2009, to find a new illustrator for Julia Donaldson's Freddie and the Fairy. The winner of this fabulous prize was Karen George, and since its release in September 2010 Freddie and the Fairy, by Julia, with Karen's illustrations, has sold over 35,000 copies!
