About Phycology Phycology (from Greek φύκος, phykos, "seaweed"; and -λογία, -logia) or algology (from Latin alga, also "seaweed") is the scientific study of algae. A phycologist is a person who studies algae. This group is for phycologists and people with an academic interest in algae to post pictures that may be useful for the teaching of phycology, or teaching about algae in other university-level courses.
