About Photos of the year: 52 weeks

Following the success of our end of year gallery showing iPhone photos of 2011. In 2012 we started the project 52 weeks: Photos of 2012 for those wanted to share images which mark big events, personal stories or world news in 2012 - at the end of the year we could look back and reflect on the moments which made up 2012.

To take part in the project, post one photo a week to mark your year in pictures tagged '52weeks' (no quotation marks). Please don't post more than two pictures per week unless you are catching up. You also need to tag your image with the number of the week and the year ('1:2012' '7:2013' etc). Weeks start on Mondays and end on Sundays.

If you're interested in iPhoneoography you can submit photos only taken on an iPhone (with hipstamatic effects) - but the 2011 group was created in this way because these types of photography apps for mobile phones really marked the way we took and shared photos that year. What will be the big development of the next year? We don't want to keep the scope of this group too narrow, but we'd like to continue to explore how photos are taken as technology progresses - so help us by writing descriptions to go with your photos on what apps they use and how they were taken. You can also start discussion topics to help others.

We also have the Guardian Camera Club for those interested in getting involved in a photography group which sets monthly assignments to help you develop your skills.

We may feature some of our favourite portfolios and pictures from the group on guardian.co.uk and maybe in other formats, e.g. our newspapers. By posting your pictures here you a) acknowledge that you have created the pictures or have permission to do so; and b) grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, free licence to publish your pictures as described. Copyright resides with you and you may reuse your pictures however you wish. You will be credited and paid if we make other uses of your pictures. It would also help us if you make the pictures downloadable in case we use them in a Guardian gallery.
