Hey guys!
I've got several rolls of film that I'm clutching on to for dear life. I can't find anywhere decent to get them processed - so far I have only seen those that might kwikly destroy my little babies - any suggestions/favourite developers?
Also, is there a darkroom training session coming up? I'd like to enlarge some b/w stuff (poss for the exhibition though it's prob a bit late now) but i'm feeling a bit rusty...

Hi there,
When I used film I used to send them off to Truprint which is a mail service but is cheaper than most places on the high street: www.truprint.co.uk or Jessops if you don't want to mess about with posting things, and they seemed to be ok, but obviously I wouldn't like to guarantee it.
As for darkroom, we've been experiencing difficulties making the room light-tight again after they replaced the door/drilled holes everywhere but I think we may finally be winning. Classes will be arranged at the exhibition/social on Friday which starts at 1pm in the guild common room, the class times will be released via email after that. Sorry for the delay.
Hope that helps!
Hannah.

thanks hannah - I'm not sure I really like the quality of the prints at truprint - do you know where the closest jessops is or are there any independent photo shops you know of?

Super,
There's at least 3 jessops stores in town that i know of if you're a fuji fan, though of course with any minilab the quality depends on who you get developing your prints. look on yell.com for their locations. If you're more of a fan of kodak's colours than fuji's, check out the kodak shop round the back of the pavillions shopping centre in town.
There are a number of mail-in services that are good (though truprint isn't one of them in my experience), I used to use metro photographic but I think they may have gone under.
these guys (http://www.colab.com/) have won "Best Lab Service" by the British Institute of Professional Photographers, which is quite an achievement, though expect to pay a bit more for your processing. (around £10 for film processing and a set of 6x4s). They are based in coventry and offer a mail-in service.
Hope you find this helpful,

Let me know how the prints come out :-)
Also, I use these guys for my digital work - www.proamimaging.com and although the calibration and preparation is long-winded, the prints are absolutely stunning and SOOO cheap.

tom - cheers for that, are they any good though? for exhibitions I just use the printers in the guild, they're laser prints but they do for throwaway stuff & wallpapering your grubby student walls!
