Maybe everyone it's waiting until nearer the end date to post ?
I've had some ideas but not had much time to try them out. I'm leaning towards the idea of a variation on a self portrait, which is what the title (taken on it's own) suggests to me. I don't have high hopes though !

I'm the same as Bruce Gaz, I have ideas just the family are taking up too much time for me to execute them. The photo's not the family.
Still got a few weeks to get on with it.
Although, I agree with Bruce's observation, you'll get an influx of entries nearer the close date.

I just bought my wife a Cannon EOS 450D (Rebel XSI) kit yesterday, along with a Canon EF-S 55-250mm IS Telephoto Zoom Lens f/4-5.6 for her birthday. She has a SONY "point & shoot" for a while and really likes it, but she wanted to start getting more creative & wanted an SLR, so that was my choice for her. Now we BOTH need to learn a LOT more about photography so we can fully utilize all the features of this camera.
I am actually the one who has the FLICKR account, but I haven't used it a lot. I have some pics up, but all from the point & shoot digital so far.
Anyway, I joined this group and I plan on asking my wife to try this contest just for fun... Again, we know virtually NOTHING about f stops, aperture, exposure, etc., but we are eager to learn! Hopefully, she will agree to try it out (the contest). So I hope the other members will be nice with their comments!! :-)
I will tell her this afternoon about the contest & see if she will enter~
PS I am looking forward to reading more of your website photography basics. It is so fun to see my wife get so excited about this creative outlet!

that's great Gary, and great to see it's a shared interest. I wish my girlfriend was into photography... although that could be more expensive for me.
Anyway, I hope you manage to enter the challenge. I'll extend the date a bit more if we don't get many entries as I think it could be quite a creative one.

Hello All,
I'm relatively new to flickr and photography in general (joined about a month ago, got a Canon EOS 400D about 3 weeks ago, have been reading various "how to" blogs (inc. your's Garry!) for two weeks, and now in this last week I feel like actually taking a picture or two! -Just in time for your competition!)
Will post something (hopefully) in the next few days...

welcome to the group, what you need to do is add the photo to the photography basics pool then add a small version of it to this thread. Only images added to the challenge thread will be considered.

I have a great idea, tried to realise it yesterday but it didn't turn out the way I wanted it to. Would you consider extending the deadline for about another week? I am quite busy at the moment, but I would really like to give it another try....

ok, i'm going to extend this as an ongoing challenge as I think it's a good creative one, but obviously one that needs some thought.
