Ha. Great expression on the above picture.
Here is one of mine from the bank steps.

I wish that I had put the soft box a little more to the left to get a little extra fill. But the set up was pretty simple for those who don't remember it.
A soft box more or less in front of her set at 1/2 power. A bare speed light with a 1/4 cto gel to the far right.
I think I tried to get the ambient about 1/4 step lower than the flashes.

Great stuff, everyone! Now that we've got one under our belt and we've started to get to know one another, they'll only get more fun.
Here's a couple from me:

My fave pic, even though it's not strobist:

A transcript of my conversation:
"So what do you think Ben?"
"Pretty nice. When do the tops come off?"
Swear on a stack. Ben Franklin is a dirty old man. Then he wouldn't come over, which would've been awesome..

yeah - I tried to get him to come over and pose with the models too, but no dice.

Lots of ambient orange light coming from huge reflected glass from a building across the street as we all remember.
SB 28 1/2 power, 3/4 CTO gel, in Photoflex Softbox left behind the column.
SB 27 1/2 power w/ 1/4 CTO gel to the right coming in diagonally.
Triggered with Skyports.
Post Processing
I felt the original file had a 'painting' quality to it so i wanted to accentuate that to some degree. I like some aspects of HDR techniques but generally dislike 80% of the results. However, for this photo, the HDR resulted in a fairly decent image. However, people doesn't look great in HDR (except in some cases). So, for this image...
I did my usual work flow of contrast, detail, noise reduction etc. I then exported it from light room to edit in Photoshop. Then I opened Photomatix and processed the HDR version from the original RAW file and saved it to a jpg. Both files were 16bit.
I then opened the HDR jpg in Photoshop and copied the layer on the the original output from Lightroom. I blended the layers a bit, the HDR was on top so I made it 70% opacity. Then I completely erased the HDR layer over the model so she didn't look fake and grainy. I dodged and burned certain parts to make a cool contrast.

Awesome - I thought it looked a bit HDRish, but Marina still looked natural so I was wondering. Very cool effect, and it suits the mood (I too dislike HDR 90% of the time)
