About Philips wakeup
There’s a town at the top of the world where the sun doesn’t rise in winter. If you don’t like waking up on dark winter mornings, be happy you don’t live in Longyearbyen.
The nearest town to the North Pole spends winter in total darkness. For 4 months, the people living there never see the sun rise.
Light is important to the human body when it comes to waking up. Our sleep patterns are based on exposure to light. Sunshine is nature’s alarm clock, controlling our sleeping and waking cycle. Without sunshine, the people of Longyearbyen find it hard to wake up refreshed.
Philips is sending 200 Wake-up lights to the town to see if it helps people wake up feeling refreshed even during five months of darkness. Can it Wake Up The Town?
